Under The Weather

After nearly SEVEN years of being a vegetarian I have finally caved.  Two weeks ago today I gave in to the dark side in an attempt to eat healthier. However, my poor body hasn't agreed with this new food group being introduced to my diet and has resulted in me being bed-bound for SIX days now!

As they say, every cloud has a silver lining...
My Vogue subscription arrived in the post - which has pretty much just made my day!
I think I can handle being bed-bound for one more day!

A Casual Saturday

So it was one of my best friend's birthdays and I had been working all day Saturday 9am until 6:30pm in a very busy clothes shop.  And what with getting up at 6:30am to catch my bus to work, and not getting home until 7:30pm...lets just say I wasn't really in the party mood, and more in a eat-lots-of-food-and-watch-TV mood. So I compromised. And instead of throwing on a party dress and getting dolled up as usual, I opted for a slightly casual Saturday night outfit.

T-shirt - ('borrowed' from my sister's closet..shh!)
Skirt - New Look
Belt - Miss Selfridge
Necklace - Forever 21
Bangles and Rings - Mixture of Topshop and Miss Selfridge

I found this skirt in my closet that I must have bought around a year and a half ago - maybe even two years ago - and it still had the tags on! I had completely forgotten about it, but I'm glad I found it for this occasion.

I've gone casual - who would have thought!

New Year, New Start

Over a very EXTENDED festive break I have been neglecting my poor blog.

I know it's February already but I'm back and I've finally decided on a New Year's resolution for myself.  I don't usually set myself a resolution because I know I'll always manage to break it within a month.  But this year I'm focusing on partying less and working harder.

Of course I'm still a student so there will be PLENTY of partying, just maybe not 6 nights a week this semester?!

Chow for now!

Ashish

A new label that has recently caught my eye is Ashish. I have to say I had never heard of Ashish before I noticed their  ski-wear range on the Topshop website, and of course, I searched some more of their collections.

They have been around for 7 years, designing original and very "out there" peices that I can't think of any other designer to compare them to. Looking through their runway shows over the years, there is always a theme present, from cowboys and indians, to animal prints, to military theme.

The A/W collection for 2011 caught my eye as it seemed to repressent the UK with lots of tartan prints and the union jack on different designs with a grunge twist...

Their collaboration with Topshop is a little more tame to suit the high-street market with this range of fashionable ski-wear...I usually hate wearing puffy, waterproof jackets, trousers, backpacks and other snow-wear because it's all  usually so unflattering.  However, even I would consider wearing this range with their quirky sloganed jumpers..they've definatley found a niche market for those girls who want to look fashionable on the slopes.

Ashish's Spring/Summer collection for 2012 also looks interesting with a gardening theme including a lot of floral prints. Here's just a few pictures as a taster of what's to come next year!

Got a little bit of the Monday blues, but I've had this song in my head all morning..definatley getting me ready for the busy weekend ahead. Only 4 days to go...

Happy Monday!

A festive gathering

So last night I ventured out of my comfort zone and went to the business snowball. I hadn't been to a ball since my school's senior ball so I had no idea what to wear! In the end I opted for a black cut out maxi with some bright, chunky jewelry, which livened up the outfit.

I'ts a shame we forgot to take pictures of our full outfits before we left the flat...we were in such a rush to get ready after a day of working 9-6:30 ...and then the taxis appeared!

Anyway. it was such a good night, I'll definatley be going to the snowball next year!

Lots of love,

McQ

I have just heard from uni that we have the opportunity to go to London Fashion Week next year in Febuary.  I’ve always wanted to go and feel the excitement of the week to see creations that designers have spent every living minute slaving over.

As this news is new to me and I literally can’t wait to go, so I found it fitting to slip in a small post about McQ. I just read today that Alexander McQueen’s line “McQ” is going to hit the catwalks for the first time at London Fashion Week next year.  McQ isn’t a well known line of the McQueen brand but it certainly is unique.

The designs stick to the traditional “McQueen style” with tartan prints and an overall Heritage style.  A lot of the designs are roughened up and very punk. A few pieces look hand-made with safety pins covering them, but it works. (Just like everything else McQueen designers churn out to the catwalks.)

So far the label is only available at stores such as Selfridges and Net-A-Porter.  However, the designs shown on Febuary’s catwalks will be sold in the debut McQ store, opening next spring in Mayfair.
They also have a very quirky and interesting website;

Check it out!
